Judging at the World Steak Challenge

This year, Catherine Butler, MD of Hugh Phillips Gower Butcher, was invited for the second year running to be a judge at the prestigious World Steak Challenge.

The event is designed to benchmark the quality of beef production against other international competitors and establish a quality mark that everyone can trust.  The challenge also provides participants an opportunity to engage with consumers to celebrate the joy and benefits of eating steak as part of a healthy balanced diet and highlight the quality and standards of steak production around the globe.

The challenge is open to all steak producing and processing companies whether trading nationally or internationally such as:

  • Beef Producers
  • Cattle farmers and ranchers
  • Beef processors
  • Steak brands
  • Beef wholesalers

The aim is to enable steak producers and suppliers to test the quality of their steak production against all international competitors.

Commenting on her involvement in the event, Catherine says, “I was truly honoured to be invited to be a judge at this exceptional event for a second year running.  It has become a benchmark in the meat industry calendar and, once again, the standards were extremely high.  Numbers of entrants had also increased this year which  is testament to the growing popularity of the challenge.”
