Our MD, Catherine Butler, has scooped the prestigious award of South Wales Business Female Entrepreneur 2019 at an event hosted this week by Sara Edwards, held in The Bear Hotel in Cowbridge.

Catherine took over the family butchery business, Hugh Phillips Gower Butcher, in 2016 and put all her effort into developing the customer base and an online presence. The butchers stall in Swansea Market is the only one to have PGI status, which means that its meat is Welsh, with full traceability.  An online shop has also been implemented and successfully delivers Welsh meat products to customers across the UK.

In 2018 Catherine opened her second business, Deli Cymreig, and was delighted to be able to position it in Swansea Market, Wales’ largest indoor market, near to her established butcher’s stall.

2019 has seen Catherine working hard to expand the Deli side of the business, building a kitchen facility to provide home cooked goods in keeping with the ethos of the company, which is to supply premium quality, locally sourced, fresh produce.
