Showcasing our meat hampers at the Winter Fair

Most of us have heard of the Royal Welsh Show, but less well known is the Royal Welsh Agricultural Society’s Winter Fair which takes place each November at the same site in Builth Wells.

First staged in 1990, the Winter Fair is becoming increasingly popular in the British agricultural show calendar. Leading stockmen from all over the UK compete for the top accolades in the competitions running throughout the two-day event.

Away from the judging rings the very best of Welsh food producers showcase their produce and Christmas shoppers can explore the hundreds of stands, demonstrations and exhibitions in a truly festive atmosphere.

The team at Hugh Phillips Gower Butcher has been attending the show for many years as the best lambs from across Wales are entered into the competitions. In particular, there is a section of the best butchers’ lambs and a huge number of Welsh butchers come along to buy the best quality lambs ready for Christmas.

Just like at the summer show, farmers attend the Winter Fair to showcase the best of breeds to encourage breeders and butchers to buy their stock.

For the first time this year we entered the Welsh Christmas Hamper and Welsh Breakfast Hamper competition and we were awarded third place for our breakfast hamper.

Our hampers were designed specifically to showcase our meat products and we were very pleased with the response we had from visitors to the fair and the sales we made to many of the visitors.

There’s still time to order our festive meat hampers in time for Christmas.  Just visit our website and if you order before 15 December to benefit from a £10 discount.
